PERSPECTIVE
My goal is connection: my connection with the people I photograph lets the viewer connect with my pictures. I've seen people burst out laughing while looking at some of my images, and be moved to tears by others. When my work evokes that kind of response, I know I have succeeded.
My passion is people: people endlessly fascinate me, and I am driven to capture them in photographs. Photographs that catch your eye, but go beyond this. Photographs that stop you, that may provoke you, but that make you connect with what you see. My task is to find or create those fleeting moments when content aligns with art and then quietly pounce on them. This is my challenge, and I strive to meet it with energy, empathy, intelligence, and wit.
I thrive on the variety I find in my photo subjects' lives. I can be photographing a hard-working ICU nurse one day, a high-powered CEO the next, and an overburdened welfare mom the day after that. Each new contact keeps me fresh and allows me to bring more depth to the next encounter. But the critical component is connection. Without it, there is no picture.
